Our Story
Grand Talon crafts authentic rice spirits in China, bringing traditional distilling heritage and refined rice flavours to modern drinkers.
Our Journey Forward
Grand Talon draws inspiration from centuries of rice spirit tradition across China. The dragon, long associated with strength and prosperity, reflects the spirit behind our craft. In 2019, we opened a new distillery in Xing Ning, Meizhou, built with an investment of 1.2 billion RMB and covering more than 120,000 square metres.
Today, Grand Talon produces a wide range of rice spirits, including rice wine, rice spirit, rice whisky, and rice liqueur. From our distillery in Huangfengwo Tea Estate, our products now reach customers in more than ten countries.
Our Cultural Heritage
The roots of Grand Talon trace back nearly 9,000 years to Jiahu in the Central Plains of ancient China, where archaeologists uncovered what is regarded as the world’s earliest known wine. This region, often described as the birthplace of Han culture, reflects the enduring traditions and values that shaped early Chinese civilisation. Over time, these cultural practices travelled with the Hakka people as they moved south during periods of conflict. Eventually settling in Meizhou, Guangdong, they preserved their customs and craftsmanship, establishing the region as a recognised centre of Hakka culture and traditional rice wine heritage.

The Art of Brewing
In Meizhou, many traditional Han cultural practices have been carefully preserved, including the techniques used to produce rice liquor. While these methods are not direct descendants of the earliest brewing found in Jiahu, they developed from broader Han traditions and have been refined through generations of Hakka brewers.
Grand Talon continues this legacy through a distilling heritage that values patience, precision, and respect for tradition. The distillery was reestablished in 1950 after the Second World War, bringing together more than twenty family-owned distilleries that shared similar brewing knowledge and practices. By combining these skills under one roof, the distillery protected techniques that might otherwise have disappeared.
Today, these traditional methods remain central to production, ensuring that each batch reflects the character, balance, and cultural heritage developed across generations of Hakka craft brewing.
Our Path Forward
Grand Talon looks to share authentic rice spirits with drinkers across the world. Each bottle reflects a story shaped by heritage, migration, and the enduring craft of Hakka brewing traditions.
Our vision is to carry this tradition forward while welcoming new audiences to experience its character. From our distillery to your glass, we invite you to discover rice spirits that honour history while finding a place at modern tables.
